What is the best way to defrost the food cubes?

There are a few ways to defrost/thaw baby food:

The slower option includes placing the frozen cube/s in a covered glass dish in the refrigerator until completely defrosted, then submerge that glass dish into a bowl of warm water to get to the desired temperature of the purée.

The faster option includes defrosting the purée in a saucepan over low heat using the stove.

For as much nutrients as possible to stay intact, these two ways are recommended.

If you wish to use a microwave you can do that too. Do keep in mind though that with a microwave caution is needed as there are likely to be hot spots within the food that may burn your baby’s mouth. Babies mouths are more sensitive to heat than ours, so remember to always check the temperature of the food before serving it to your baby.

For food safety concerns, it is not recommended to let purées defrost on the counter at room temperature.
